Paving Michigan the right way since 2003.
Black Rock Paving is a family-owned asphalt company out of Belleville. Third-generation pavers, our own crew and equipment, and a simple rule: the surface we leave behind has to hold up to a Michigan winter.
A trade passed down the family.
Black Rock Paving has been laying asphalt across Southeast Michigan since 2003, but the trade goes back further than that in our family. We are third-generation pavers. The know-how that decides whether a driveway lasts five years or twenty-five did not come out of a manual. It came off job sites, from the people who taught us how to read a grade and build a base that the next winter cannot tear apart.
We built this company on the idea that a paving contractor should be the easy part of your project. Show up when we say we will. Walk the property with you. Put a real number in writing. Then send the same crew that quoted the job out to do the work.
That is the whole pitch. Family-owned, plain-spoken, and still answering the phone after the trucks pull off.
Pavement built for Michigan winters.
Asphalt anywhere is only as good as the base under it, but in Michigan the margin for error is thinner. Freeze-thaw cycles pump water in and out of the ground all winter. Road salt and plow blades work on the surface. The spring thaw heaves anything that was not built to move with it. A cheap job looks fine in October and starts coming apart by April.
So we spec the base for the soil that is actually on your property, cut drainage into the grade so water leaves instead of pooling and refreezing, and lay the hot mix at temperature so it compacts to a tight, sealed surface. We finish the edges by hand, because that is the first place a rushed job fails.
It is more work up front. It is also the difference between paving once and paving again in a few years.
Four things we never
cut corners on.
Show up on time
If we book you for Tuesday morning, we are in the driveway Tuesday morning. Reliability has nothing to do with asphalt and everything to do with respecting your time.
Quote it straight
The written estimate is the price. No mystery add-ons, no scope traps. If something changes once we open up the site, we stop and talk to you before we touch it.
Build the base right
The part you cannot see is the part that fails first. We compact the base to the depth the soil and the load call for, every time, because shortcuts there cost you a repave.
Answer the phone
If something needs another look a year or three down the road, we still pick up. The relationship does not end when the equipment leaves the property.
Two decades in, one
phone number that answers.
